Recorded Webinar: 2025 Standards of Care for Those Living with Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is a complex chronic illness requiring ongoing education and support to reduce the risk of serious complications. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Diabetes Statistics Report estimates 130 million people in the US are living with diabetes or prediabetes.

Lifestyle modification is the cornerstone of diabetes prevention and care. Dietitians are uniquely qualified members of the health care team who can guide people with prediabetes or diabetes towards better outcomes. Nutrition professionals must continually update knowledge of current guidelines to provide the highest level of evidence-based nutrition care.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity, nutrition professionals should be better able to:

  1. Explain the key revisions of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes, 2025.
  2. Integrate and individualize the current nutrition care guidelines when caring for adults with type 2 diabetes.
  3. Identify key times dietitians can assist clients with diabetes self-management education through the continuum of diabetes care.
  4. Recognize opportunities to facilitate relevant team-based care for the successful treatment and management of prediabetes and diabetes.
