Recorded Webinar: Updates from the Standards of Care in Diabetes 2021 – Part 2
This joint Today's Dietitian and Becky Dorner & Associates webinar was presented on Thursday February 18, 2021 from 2-3 p.m. EDT.
Diabetes is a complex chronic illness requiring ongoing education and support in order to reduce the risk of serious complications. Over 34 million adults have diabetes and approximately 88 million have prediabetes. Lifestyle modification is the cornerstone of diabetes care and RDNs are uniquely qualified members of the healthcare team who can guide those with prediabetes or diabetes towards better outcomes. As professionals, we must keep abreast of current guidelines to provide the best evidence-based nutrition care.
Join Kathy Warwick, RDN, CDCES, for part 2 of this 2 part webinar series as she provides an update on the Standards of Medical Care for Diabetes 2021 with relevant guidelines for RDNs involved in diabetes care.
After completing this activity, nutrition professionals will be better able to:
- Discuss the key revisions of the 2021 ADA Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes.
- Understand and implement the current nutrition care guidelines for adults with diabetes.
- Identify opportunities for diabetes self-management education during the continuum of diabetes care.
- Explain the roles and opportunities for RDNs in diabetes prevention.
