Webinar: From School Meals to Family Meals: Building Lifelong Healthy Eating Habits with Protein

November 12, 2026

School meals play an important role in shaping children's eating habits, food preferences, and overall diet quality. As children experience balanced, nutritious meals at school, those behaviors can be reinforced at home through family meals.

Join Alex Turnbull, RDN, LD, and Tarrah Westercamp, MS, RD, SNS, on Thursday, November 12, from 2-3 p.m. ET, for a webinar that will explore the connection between school nutrition and family mealtime, highlighting practical strategies for building balanced meals that children enjoy while reducing mealtime stress and supporting healthy growth and development. The discussion will also address the role of protein foods, including animal proteins, as part of healthy dietary patterns and provide practical ideas for both school nutrition professionals and families.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, nutrition professionals will be better able to:

  1. Explore how school meals influence children's eating behaviors and food preferences beyond the cafeteria.
