This continuing education course examines the common causes of intestinal gas, methods for evaluating the causes, and strategies for management.
Learning Objectives
After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be better able to demonstrate an understanding of the common symptoms, causes, and management of intestinal gas. Specifically, they should be able to:
- Describe the two major contributing factors to intestinal gas.
- Identify at least three health conditions associated with symptomatic intestinal gas.
- Explain breath tests and their importance to evaluating intestinal gas.
- Discuss possible methods to help manage intestinal gas including medications, lifestyle changes, and diet.
