We are at a historic juncture as it relates to food labeling. Restaurants and grocery stores must now label prepared foods, the new food label guidelines appear to be delayed, and national genetic engineering labeling regulations are imminent. During this session, regulatory expert Annette Maggi will dig beneath the surface and provide the rationale behind and details of these regulations. Attendees will gain an understanding of how this impacts their work, education for consumers, and messaging in all food environments and communication venues.

Learning Objectives

After attending this session, nutrition professionals should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the implications of food labeling and regulatory changes on dietetics professionals’ work.
  2. Update consumer-facing content and communication tools to reflect new regulations.
  3. Ensure compliance with all food labeling regulations (within different work environments).
