Health Risks of Excessive Sugar Consumption

This continuing education course examines some of the main roles of sugars in the body, describes various conditions that are exacerbated by excessive refined sugar and added sugar intake, and suggests strategies RDs can use to help clients limit simple refined sugars in their diets.

After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be able to:

  1. Explain two of the main roles of sugars (simple carbohydrates) in the body.
  2. Describe at least four conditions that are exacerbated by excessive refined sugar intake.
