Defining the Sustainability Equation From Farm to Fork
This continuing education course will provide an overview of sustainability, including the role of food systems from farm to fork, the complexities of balancing nutrition within the sustainability equation, and the role nutrition professionals can play in shaping sustainable food systems.
After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be better able to:
- Assess the meaning of the word “sustainability” and its role in the local and global food system.
- Analyze examples of sustainable agricultural practices implemented across the US food system that contribute to a reliable, resilient, and affordable food supply.
- Evaluate modeling study design used for predicting the environmental, economic, and nutritional parameters of plant- and animal-based food sources.
- Distinguish the role of the nutrition professional within the food and agriculture continuum to support and promote sustainable food systems.
