Recorded Symposium Session: Reduced Carb Diets and Disease Risk Reduction: How Low Do You Go?
Low carbohydrate dietary patterns have been found to be beneficial for multiple metabolic health parameters. Many patients and dietitians are unaware, however, of what reduction of carbohydrates in the diet are implicated for change and further, may fear the sustainability of low carb approaches. In this session, Kristin Kirkpatrick will focus on the definition, benefit, and implementation of a more moderate carbohydrate pattern reduction in a patient setting.
Learning Objectives
After completing this continuing education activity, health care professionals will be better able to:
- Discuss the evidence supporting the efficacy, safety, and sustainability of lower carbohydrate diets for specific populations.
- Summarize the studies related to moderate carbohydrate dietary patterns with health and longevity.
- Identify appropriate implementation of moderate carbohydrate approaches in a patient population.
