Recorded Webinar: Healthier Kidneys through Your Kitchen: Earlier Nutrition Intervention for Chronic Kidney Disease
This webinar took place on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 2–3 pm ET.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a frequent diagnosis and many with CKD are unaware they have it or how to manage it. The need for earlier nutrition intervention for CKD prompted the Lexington Kentucky VA Health Care System to develop the Healthier Kidneys Through Your Kitchen program. The program involves identifying veterans with stage 3 CKD and offering them education on CKD stages and lifestyle changes that slow progression. This innovative program has spread to 15 VAs (and counting!), with plans for nationwide implementation.
Join us for a webinar featuring Rebecca Schlueter, RD, LD, the Assistant Chief of Nutrition & Food Services at the Lexington Kentucky VA Health Care System. Becky will share lessons learned from her involvement in the Healthier Kidneys Through Your Kitchen program and provide practical and actionable steps for attendees to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team in the treatment of CKD patients.

After completing this activity, nutrition professionals will be better able to:
- Identify three factors that demonstrate the importance of nutrition intervention for CKD.
- Implement a cooking-based renal nutrition class.
