This webinar was presented by Dr. Christy McElroy, PsyD, and Emily Presbrey, MS, RD, LDN, and provided attendees with an understanding of the signs, symptoms, prevalence of BED, as well as information on the advances and updates in treatment. Dr. Christy McElroy completed her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. Currently, Dr. McElroy works as lead clinical therapist in Naperville, IL, where she is responsible for direct patient care as well as development and implementation of evidence-based curriculum in a Binge Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program. Prior to this, she worked with individuals seeking bariatric surgery, and was responsible for creating the behavioral portion of program development for an integrative pediatric weight management clinic. In addition, Dr. McElroy works in her private practice and volunteers her time advocating for various health initiative programs in the community promoting positive body image.
Emily Presbrey, MS, RD, LDN, is a registered and licensed dietitian who specialies in eating disorder treatment. Emily earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Science Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Northern Illinois University, where she also completed a certificate in Eating Disorders and Obesity and her Dietetic Internship. Emily currently works at the Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient level of care for individuals struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder.
