2025 Spring Symposium Recorded Meal Session: Can Carbohydrates Offer Nutritional Support During GLP-1 Journeys?
Join Caroline Thomason, RD, CDCES, for an engaging webinar exploring how specific carbohydrates can provide nutritional support for individuals navigating weight management with or without GLP-1 medications.
Caroline will introduce the role of GLP-1s in appetite regulation, glucose control, and metabolic health. She focuses on the latest science showing how prebiotic chicory root fiber like inulin and oligofructose and slowly digested carbohydrates, like isomaltulose, can stimulate GLP-1 release naturally, enhance satiety, reduce energy intake, and support fat burning and healthier body composition.
Key takeaways include:
- How GLP-1s work and why they matter for nutrition and weight management.
- Clinical evidence linking chicory root fiber (inulin and oligofructose) and isomaltulose to increased GLP-1 secretion, satiety, and improved weight outcomes.
- Practical recommendations for dietitians to help clients use these functional fibers & carbohydrates to bridge nutrient gaps, maintain muscle mass, and achieve sustainable weight goals—whether they are using GLP-1 RA or not.
This webinar is perfect for nutrition professionals seeking evidence-based, real-world solutions that help meet the evolving needs of patients and consumers in the GLP-1 era.

- Understand the role of GLP-1 in appetite regulation, glucose control, and metabolic health—and why it’s central to today’s nutrition landscape.
- Explore how specific carbohydrates — like chicory root fiber (inulin and oligofructose) and isomaltulose — stimulate GLP-1 release and support weight management.
- Review clinical evidence on the effects of prebiotic chicory root fiber, like inulin and oligofructose, and slow-digesting carbohydrates, like isomaltulose, on satiety, energy intake, and body composition.
- Identify practical ways to incorporate GLP-1-supportive ingredients into nutrition strategies for people with or without GLP-1 medications.
- Distinguish evidence-based benefits from marketing claims when evaluating functional carbohydrate products in the wellness industry.
