Dietary Supplements and the Kidneys

This continuing education course examines current research on dietary supplements and their role in kidney health or toxicity, and provides recommendations RDs can use when counseling their clients on safe dietary supplement use.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education course, nutrition professionals should be better able to: 

  1. Discuss the prevalence of dietary supplement use in the United States.
  2. Explain the role of dietary supplements in kidney health or toxicity.
  3. Identify specific dietary supplements that have been shown to contribute to kidney toxicity.
  4. State specific dietary recommendations to help clients use dietary supplements safely and effectively, when appropriate.
