Recorded Symposium Session: Sports Nutrition: Considerations for Counseling Today's Athletes
Today's athletes are faced with a plethora of nutrition information and misinformation. This session will focus on the current food and fueling trends of sports-active people—and offer counseling tips to counter misguided fueling practices.

Nancy Clark, MS, RD, CSSD, an internationally respected sports nutritionist, specializes in nutrition for performance, wellness, and weight management, including helping athletes with eating disorders. Based in Boston, her clients have included the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, athletes from local colleges, and Olympians. Her best-selling book “Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook” has sold over 750,000 copies and is now available in its 6th edition. Her other books include food guides for soccer, new runners, marathoners, and cyclists. Nancy also writes a monthly nutrition column called “The Athlete's Kitchen,” which appears regularly in over 100 sports publications and websites. Her nutrition advice and photo have even graced the back of the Wheaties’ box!
Nancy completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition from Simmons College in Boston and received the Simmons College Distinguished Alumna Award in 2007. She completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and received her graduate degree in nutrition with a focus on exercise physiology from Boston University. Nancy is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has been a member of ACSM’s Board of Trustees. She is a regular bicycle commuter, runner, and gardener. She has completed several marathons, bicycled across America, and hiked in the Himalayas.
